Right-hander Steve Trachsel will make his second start of the season in the opening game of the Mets' series at Atlanta on Monday, manager Willie Randolph said. Trachsel, returning from a back injury, pitched eight scoreless innings Aug. 26 against San Francisco in his first start in 11 months. Right-hander Pedro Martinez will pitch Tuesday and left-hander Tom Glavine on Wednesday against Atlanta. "I'm a firm believer that if you can give a guy an extra day, then there's nothing wrong with doing it," Randolph told The New York Times. "Everyone this time of year is a little bit banged up, a little bit sore, a little bit this, a little bit that. It doesn't matter because you have to take the ball."
