The last time Charlie Manuel smiled this much, his players were drenching him with Bud Light and cheap champagne after the Phillies clinched the National League East and earned their first playoff appearance in 14 years. Yesterday, as Manuel stood behind the media-room podium at Citizens Bank Park, it was sort of the same feeling. Except this time he made sure nothing more than a smudge touched his gray suit, accessorized with a white shirt and topped off with a red and gold tie. A new 2-year extension, with a club option for 2010, will sometimes do that to your swagger. "I'm glad it happened. Now we can start going on with the team," Manuel said.
