Alex Rodriguez finally ended an unfathomable drought of 57 straight postseason at-bats without an RBI with a late solo home run last night. But that achievement wasn't nearly enough to prevent what he termed a "very painful" season-ending 6-4 loss to the Indians or for the questions to gain steam about this being perhaps his final game as a Yankee. "I'm always a good target, so that's fine. ... The reason I came to New York, first and foremost, was to help this team win a championship, and I must say I have failed at that, as one of the leaders of this team. Whatever blame you guys want to put on me is fair," a red-eyed A-Rod said after his fourth season with the Yankees ended just like the previous three, without a trip to the World Series. "It's been an emotional year, I've really enjoyed my teamamtes, enjoyed playing, I've enjoyed growing as a human being and a baseball player in New York. "It's been a tough ladder for me. I've learned some things this year as a player and in this clubhouse, and for that I'm most proud. It's just too bad it has to end like this, on a sour note."
