Carlos Beltran's return to New York's batting order was countered by the realization that catcher Mike Piazza had suffered a small fracture to the pisiform bone on his left hand, which helps connects the pinky to the wrist. The injury was suffered in the seventh inning Tuesday on a foul tip off the bat of Pittsburgh's Freddy Sanchez. The ball shot down and caught Piazza at just the right spot on his glove hand. "It hurt," Piazza said. "I went and kind of took a second or two. It was throbbing. I was just hoping for a bruise."
