Major League Baseball's chief operating officer, Bob DuPuy, gave the following update to Sports Business Daily: "We will continue discussions until we reach a deal or it becomes apparent we cannot." This means MLB has removed any deadline in negotiations with In Demand -- the group owned by Comcast, Time Warner and Cox -- concerning carriage of the Extra Innings television package of out-of-market games. It is the latest sign that discussions have progressed toward an agreement that would enable the cable companies to carry Extra Innings. Late Tuesday, as reported by Multichannel News, In Demand spokesperson Ellen Cooper said, ?We were hoping and expecting that there could be a deal done the last couple of days. Both sides are involved, and they?re continuing to talk.? Cooper said that if a deal is finalized, cable operators would be able to turn around and deliver games to their subscribers almost immediately. ?We would be ready, technically, within an hour,? Cooper said.
