The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves 10-8 on Thursday night and Pete Alonso made history in the process.

Alonso had five hits and knocked in six runs, including a three-run home run.

His 39th home run tied him with Cody Bellinger for the National League rookie record. Bellinger set the mark in 2017, the same year Aaron Judge set the Major League rookie mark with 52 homers.

"I don't stand alone," Alonso said. "I'm tied. Hopefully I keep on going and keep pushing forward. Hopefully I can stand alone in that category."
