The New York Mets have designated Travis d'Arnaud for assignment.

In a corresponding move, they recalled catcher Tomas Nido from Triple-A.

The 30-year-old catcher in just 2-for-23 this season. He underwent Tommy John surgery last April.

The Mets acquired d'Arnaud in 2012 as part of the trade with the Toronto Blue Jays that also netted Noah Syndergaard for R.A. Dickey.
