The New York Mets signed Jose Bautista on Tuesday afternoon, two days after he was cut by the Atlanta Braves.

Bautista got a call from the Mets while relaxing at his home in Florida. He hustled to the nearby airport, hurried to Citi Field and an hour after physically joining the team, he was in the lineup.

"I said, 'You're in left field,' and he said, 'I got it,'" Mickey Callaway said.

Bautista hit a double in his first at-bat. He finished 1-for-3 and called it "one of the wildest days" in his career.
