The Chicago Cubs were forced to play Anthony Rizzo at third base on Tuesday night when Kris Bryant suffered a hand/wrist injury in the ninth inning.

Rizzo played third for a full inning, becoming the first left-hander to play the position in more than 20 years.

When Bryant left the game, reserve catcher Rene Rivera was the only player Chicago had on the bench.

The last left-handed throwing third baseman to appear in a Major League game was Mario Valdez of the Chicago White Sox on July 2, 1997.
