Tim Anderson has agreed to a six-year, $25.5 million contract extension with the Chicago White Sox.

Anderson will receive $850,000 in 2017, $1 million in 2018, $1.4 million in 2019, $4 million in 2020, $7.25 million in 2021 and $9.5 million in 2022.

The deal also includes team options for 2023 ($12.5 million) and 2024 ($14 million) with a $1 million buyout.

The contract sets a new record for a major leaguer with less than one year of service time.

Anderson would have been a free agent after the 2022 season prior to the deal.
