The New York Mets and Neil Walker have yet to engage "in any substantive discussions" about a multi-year extension.

New York would like to keep Walker off the free agent market. The deadline for players who have been issued qualifying offers to decide whether to accept or reject the one-year, $17.2 million offer is Monday afternoon.

Walker is one of 10 players to receive a qualifying offer this offseason.
