The Minnesota Twins have named Cleveland Indians executive Derek Falvey to take over baseball operations.

Falvey has been with the Indians for nine seasons and is still just 33.

Falvey replaces Terry Ryan, who stepped down in the middle of a season in which the Twins plummeted to 103 losses.

Falvey joined the Indians in 2007 as an intern. He worked in the scouting department his first three years before becoming assistant director of baseball operations in 2011.
