The Toronto Blue Jays have named long-time executive Paul Beeston president emeritus.

Beeston will hold the position "in perpetuity."

He announced his retirement as the organization's president and CEO in the fall of 2015.

"This is simply a small token of recognition for the nearly four decades he's given the game," Mark Shapiro said in the press release. "We felt it was right to honor the legacy he has built and ensure he's a part of the future successes of this team."
