Tim Tebow, after taking part in his first day of instructional league play with the New York Mets, says he has no interest in fielding calls from teams that have a need at the quarterback position because of an injury.

"I have to play baseball now -- that's what I would tell them," Tebow said. "I'm part of the Mets family now."

The Mets signed Tebow to a Minor League deal for a $100,00 bonus earlier this month.

This weekend, the team began selling Tebow merchandise online.

Major League teams are not allowed to use a player's name or image until he makes the 40-man roster, as those players are not considered part of the union. However, Tebow signed a bridge agreement with the official jersey supplier Majestic Athletic last week, which allows the company to merchandise him before he makes the majors.

As of Monday afternoon, Tebow's jersey was the third-highest seller on MLB's online shop, behind only David Ortiz and Kris Bryant.
