The Houston Astros have sent Carlos Correa back home because of inflammation in his left shoulder.

The club remains optimistic that Correa will be able to play when they host the Chicago Cubs this weekend.

"Carlos is a little beat up, so we sent him to see our doctors," A.J. Hinch said. "He had tests today, so we felt that was the right decision."

Correa experienced soreness in his shoulder in Tuesday night's game against the Cleveland Indians and told Hinch he was uncomfortable upon waking Wednesday.
