The Tampa Bay Rays won't allow Chris Archer to lose 20 games this season, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

Archer leads the Major Leagues with 17 losses through Sunday's action.

The right-hander was expected to be among the game's best pitchers this season, but has been a little unlucky. He has a 4.10 ERA, but leads baseball in strikeouts (202) and K/9 (10.8) Archer's FIP is 3.72.

The Rays don't want him to be forever known as having lost 20 games.

Mike Maroth of the Detroit Tigers (2003) was the last pitcher to lose 20 games.
