There has been some talk that the Miami Marlins could add Alex Rodriguez to their roster as they push towards the playoffs.

The New York Yankees will release Rodriguez after Friday's game, formally making him a free agent able to sign with any club for the remainder of the season at a pro-rated portion of the minimum, approximately $75,000.

Rodriguez still believes he can play, but said Thursday that he's been focused on his final days as a Yankee.

"At this point, I've been so focused on this week," Rodriguez said. "I have plenty of emotion. I don't have any time or energy to focus on anything else. I'm just really looking forward to my last seven or eight at-bats."
