Andrew Lambo, who has played for the Oakland Athletics after being claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates, is recovering after undergoing surgery last week for testicular cancer.

Lambo, 27, was experiencing discomfort while playing for Triple-A Nashville, was diagnosed and had the procedure at the Vanderbilt University Urology Clinic.

"I let Andrew know that his health is of the utmost importance to us and that the A's will assist him in any way possible through his treatment and recovery process," A's general manager David Forst said in a statement.
