Giants outfielder Hunter Pence likely will have surgery to repair a torn right hamstring tendon and will miss eight weeks.

The surgery has not yet been scheduled, but the Giants said the outfielder and the team are leaning toward the procedure.

"The good news is there's going to be a lot of season left to play when I come back," Pence said Friday before the NL West leaders played the Cardinals on Friday night. "So there's a lot to look forward to. That is exciting."
