The New York Mets are bracing for the possibility that Jacob deGrom may require a stint on the disabled list with a sore right lat muscle.

Logan Verrett will start in deGrom's place on Wednesday. deGrom left the team earlier this week to be present for the birth of his son.

deGrom strained his lat muscle on Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Mets could place deGrom on the DL retroactive to April 9, which would sideline him for two starts. Another option includes placing him on paternity leave, giving them an extra roster spot for one to three days.
