Mike Trout is part of baseball's young generation, but he doesn't seem to want any part of a new era that includes bat flipping as a showcase for personality.

Trout weighted in after recent comments by Bryce Harper and Goose Gossage over whether or not showing emotion on the field is good for the game.

"I just keep it the same," Trout said. "I don't try to show anybody up. Whatever somebody else does, that's what they do."

Harper said he has no problem with a pitcher showing emotion on the mound, and he wants that same latitude.

"During the game, I just hit the ball and go," Trout said.

He said bat flipping is "definitely" showing up the pitcher.

"As a pitcher," he added, "I'd be pretty upset."
