The Miami Marlins plan to rest Giancarlo Stanton for a few days with right knee soreness.

Stanton informed the club on Sunday that his knee was bothering him. As a precaution, Don Mattingly immediately decided his best hitter would get a couple of days off.

"He came in [Sunday] with a little soreness in his knee," Mattingly said. "At that point, we were like, 'OK, I'm not taking him tomorrow.'"

Stanton had surgery on the same knee in July 2012.
