Yoenis Cespedes hopes his three-year, $75 million deal with the New York Mets is only the beginning.

Cespedes, who has played for four teams in four seasons, can opt out of the new contract after the 2016 season to become a free agent.

"He doesn't view this as a short-term relationship or short-term contract," agent Brodie Van Wagenen said.

Wagenen added that Cespedes "hopes it will be a bridge to a longer partnership."
