The reported $110 million offer the Washington Nationals made to Yoenis Cespedes was an unorthodox one, according to a report by Peter Gammons.

Cespedes, who ultimately re-signed with the New York Mets for $75 million over three years, would have received the $110 million from the Nationals over a 15-year period. When taking the deferred money into account, the current value of the offer is believed to be around $77 million.

The offer Cespedes accepted from the Mets also included an opt-out clause after the 2016 season, which could allow him to hit free agency for the second time in as many years.
