Daniel Murphy rejected the one-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer from the New York Mets last week, but that doesn't mean the second baseman won't remain with the club.

The Mets are expected to make a legitimate bid for Murphy and there is a belief within the organization that he may consider re-signing even if New York doesn't offer the largest contract.

Murphy has been a member of the Mets for his entire professional career.

Jim Bowden of ESPN projects Murphy will get a four-year, $48 million offer.
