Colby Rasmus has accepted the one-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer from the Houston Astros, according to a source.

Rasmus is the first free agent to accept a qualifying offer since it was introduced three years ago.

When a player rejects the offer to test the market, his former team receives an additional high selection in the June draft if he signs somewhere else.

Rasmus, 29, hit .238 with a career-high 25 home runs and 61 RBIs in his first season with the Astros.
