The New York Mets are expected to modestly pursue Yoenis Cespedes, but they expect him to sign elsewhere, according to a team official.

Although he cooled off, New York's trade for Cespedes at the July 31 deadline fueled the club all the way to the World Series.

Cespedes recently told ESPN Deportes that he expects to sign at least a six-year contract and that he'd like to re-sign with the Mets.

"It's been an incredible experience," he said. "A very special experience for me."
