The Chicago Cubs have decided not to move a home run ball hit by Kyle Schwarber on Tuesday night that landed on top of the right-field video scoreboard.

The towering home run came in Chicago's NLDS-clinching victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

"It's the first year of the video scoreboards; it's the first year the Cubs have ever clinched at home; and it's the first time someone has hit a ball up there," Cubs spokesman Julian Green said.

The Cubs said they will encase the ball in Plexiglas to protect it from the elements, and the team then will retrieve it after the postseason concludes.
