The San Diego Padres could be limited in improving their roster this offseason due to payroll concerns.
The Padres could have as much as $103.85 million tied up to 14 players, which could leave just more than $16 million to spend on the rest of the 25-man roster if $120 million is a reasonable expectation for their opening day payroll.
The Padres won just 74 games after significantly remaking their roster last offseason.
