The Arizona Diamondbacks haven't ruled out using Peter O'Brien as a catcher moving forward.

Many were skeptical about O'Brien as a Major League catcher when Arizona acquired him in a trade with the New York Yankees last year.

O'Brien has been working at the catching position since joining the Diamondbacks as a September call-up -- helping in the bullpen before games, warming up pitchers between innings and even going through throwing drills last week.

"It's good to see him back there," bench coach Glenn Sherlock said. "It's just something that we're keeping our options open and letting him get back there and get comfortable."

The Diamondbacks shifted O'Brien to the outfield late in the spring and he remained there early in the Triple-A season. He made a few starts behind the plate in May, but eventually asked Reno Aces manager Phil Nevin to be used as a full-time outfielder.
