Jeff Samardzija, 30, is on his way to throwing 200-plus innings for the third-straight season, but his market value may have decreased as free agency approaches.

Earlier this season Homer Bailey's six-year, $105 million contract seemed like a good reference point for the Chicago White Sox right-hander. James Shields' four-year, $75 million deal may be more realistic now.

Samardzija has a 4.87 ERA, and 146 strikeouts in 188.1 innings this season.
