As they searched for pitching ahead of the non-waiver trade deadline, the Toronto Blue Jays inquired with the Philadelphia Phillies about Cole Hamels.

Toronto ended up landing Dave Price from the Detroit Tigers, but not before they went through several over targets.

According to a source, the Jays also inquired about Hamels — over the winter, during spring training, before the All-Star break, and again 10 days before the deadline.

Hamels wouldn't waive his no-trade clause to go to the Blue Jays.
