Yoenis Cespedes has been a member of the New York Mets for less than a week, but he's open to the idea of a long-term deal with the franchise.

It's worth noting that he's unlikely to remain with the Mets, who may be unwilling to pay him market value as a free agent this offseason.

"This is something I can't control," Cespedes said through an interpreter Tuesday. "I don't know what the front office is thinking about. But with what I see so far, I would love for everything to work out and stay as a Met for a long, long time, because I like the atmosphere."

Since Sandy Alderson took over as general manager after the 2010 season, the Mets have only handed out two contracts worth more than $60 million in total. Cespedes is a prime candidate for a nine-figure deal this winter.
