The Chicago White Sox have promoted Nick Hostetler to scouting director.

Hostetler's predecessor, Doug Laumann, is moving into a new role as senior adviser to scouting operations.

The 37-year-old Hostetler has been a scout since 2001, first as an area scout with the White Sox, then with the Atlanta Braves for three years before rejoining the White Sox in 2007 as East Coast crosschecker. He became Laumann's assistant director in October 2012.
