Brewers general manager Doug Melvin, who is considering retiring after this season, knows what lies ahead after trading away veterans this week, and it's not too good.

"We've lost a lot of offense, obviously, with losing Ramirez and Gerardo and Carlos Gomez," Melvin said. "So, our pitching better continue to be good. But it will create opportunities for a few other guys to get that chance to step up and perform offensively. So we'll just have to wait and see."
