The Blue Jays have told Vernon Wells that the clubs wants to address their pitching issues before exploring a contract extension with the center fielder. "We've talked a bit, but there have been no hard-core issues discussed because they have some things they need to take care of, like pitching," Wells said Monday. "I understand that fully. I want to win in 2007. So do they." Wells has been encouraged by a market that saw Alfonso Soriano score the fifth largest contract in MLB history. "Obviously, it's a great deal for [Soriano]," said Wells, who hit .303, with 32 home runs and 106 runs batted in last season. "It shows where the market is going."
