With a playoff appearance in their sights, the Chicago Cubs have been in discussions with the Philadelphia Phillies on a deal for Cole Hamels, according to sources.

Hamels has three years left on his current contract plus an option year.

David Price, who could be had for a lower price because he will become a free agent after the season, isn't in play yet. The Detroit Tigers haven't yet put the right-hander on the block, according to sources.
