The Boston Red Sox and Rick Porcello both insist the pitcher is healthy, which make his struggles this season all the more frustrating.

The Red Sox put a lot of pressure on Porcello when they signed him to a four-year, $103.63 million contract extension before he ever threw a pitch for the club.

Porcello has been a victim of big innings many times this season. John Farrell "has expressed no inclination to drop Porcello from the rotation; he will be given every opportunity to work his way out of the slump," writes Gordon Edes.

The right-hander has allowed five or more earned runs five times in 14 starts this season; he allowed five earned runs or more just six times in 32 starts last season.
