For a brief moment on Thursday it appeared as though the Philadelphia Phillies had finally traded Cole Hamels.

When the clubhouse opened after the team beat the Baltimore Orioles, ending a nine-game losing streak, Hamels' locker was empty and his nameplate above it was gone.

The left-hander's name has been mentioned in trade rumors for quite some time, but the act was a joke.

No player owned up to the deed, though several were laughing about it. A team spokesman said he didn't know who was responsible for it.
