Matt Harvey struggled against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night. He allowed seven runs on nine hits over six innings as the New York Mets lost 8-5 at Citi Field.

"It was just a terrible performance," Harvey said. "The last couple of starts have been extremely bad. Just not getting it done. Just not helping the team in any way. Something needs to change."

Harvey added that he won't use his Tommy John surgery "as an excuse" and that his body and arm feel great. However, he has had a lack of life on his fastball recently.

"I'm just all over the place," he said. "Not putting people away when I need to. Not keeping people off base when I need to. Obviously not keeping the ball in the yard when I need to ... I just have to be better."
