Kris Bryant would be a willing participant in next month's Home Run Derby.

"Absolutely, but we're not at that point yet," the Chicago Cubs rookie third baseman said. "I still have a lot of work to do to get to that point. But if that comes up, that would be pretty cool."

Entering Wednesday, Bryant had seven home runs.

Bryant won the home run derby contest last season at the Double-A Southern League All-Star Game en route to 43 regular-season home runs and being named minor league player of the year.

"For myself and my swing, I think I like to hit balls in the air anyway, and you need to do that for the Home Run Derby so my swing won't be that much different," he said.
