Boston Red Sox owner John W. Henry fully endorsed manager John Farrell on Tuesday and said that Ben Cherington will be "general manager of this team for a very long time."

Henry characterized the Red Sox as a "strong team -- they just have not played up to their capabilities."

In the rare session, Henry acknowledged that the team's play has been "terrible ... [and] even worse to be responsible for this, and I feel responsible, I am responsible."

The Red Sox entered play on Tuesday in last place.
