Matt Holliday set a St. Louis Cardinals record Wednesday by reaching base safely for the 43rd consecutive game to start the season.

It's the longest streak in the National League since 1914.

Derek Jeter set the Major League record with 53 in a row in 1999.

"Yeah, that's cool," Holliday said. "A lot of players have played in the National League. That's pretty good, I guess."
