Bryce Harper hit a trio of home runs for the Washington Nationals on Wednesday afternoon, becoming the first player in 45 years to accomplish the feat.

Joe Lahoud (22 years, 53 days) hit three home runs on June 11, 1969. Harper is 22 years, 203 days old.

"I was trying to get some good ABs," Harper said. "[Tom Koehler] is a good pitcher. He has a curveball, slider and has a good changeup. We were trying to put some runs on the board for [Max Scherzer]."

It was Harper's sixth multi-homer game of his career.

Harper is hitting .265/.416/.561 with eight home runs and 20 RBI in 125 plate appearances.
