Joey Votto could face a suspension after he made contact with plate umpire Chris Conroy after Conroy ejected him on Wednesday night.

After striking out to end the third inning, Votto charged toward Conroy, and the two bumped chests before Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price could intervene.

Making contact with an umpire often results in discipline from Major League Baseball.

"My reaction was over-the-top," Votto said "Being passionate or emphatic about something is one thing, verbally disagreeing. But I got too close and made contact with him."

Votto is hitting .323 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs this season.
