Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio is open to rebuilding the club and isn't sure how long Doug Melvin will remain his general manager.

The Brewers fired Ron Roenicke this week and hired Craig Counsell to replace him.

"One of the challenges, and it seems to go through other sports, the responsibility, at least in the first instance, seems to go on the manager or the coach," said Attanasio. "I think we all feel responsible for where we are here.

"Doug is not shirking responsibility at all for where we're at. What we're trying to do every day is take a look how we can make this team better. I don't think we look at it like this was all on Ron at all.

"I said when I was here a few weeks ago the players have to be accountable and I do think the players have to be accountable. I think the players are feeling accountable."
