Addison Russell started in his first Major League game with the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night.

The infielder went 0-for-5, but the Cubs came from behind to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-8.

"It's awesome," Russell said. "It's a great thing to be part of."

Russell struck out three times, but hit the ball hard while lining out in his final at-bat.

"It gives a little more confidence going into tomorrow," Russell said. "I just had to get the first one [game] out of the way."
