The Detroit Tigers are trying to come to terms with David Price on a long-term deal before Opening Day, but the two sides are believed to be far apart in talks.

Detroit agreed to extensions with Justin Verlander and Miguel Cabrera in the days leading up to the season in recent years.

However, three sources indicated the gap between the Tigers and the left-hander.

Price has said that he's open to an extension, going as far as to say that he'd discuss a deal into the season. The Tigers are more interested in holding onto Price than they were Max Scherzer.
