The Arizona Diamondbacks, who had one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball last season, are comfortable relying on young, unproven hurlers this year.

Team officials believe some of the youngsters have top-of-the-rotation potential.

"Our staff is young, but I still think that we're going to pitch well," Dave Stewart said.

Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson are at the top of Arizona's rotation with the remaining spots open until Patrick Corbin and Bronson Arroyo are healthy.

Robbie Ray, Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster are candidates for those openings.

"It's our belief that with the young pitching we've got, we think it's the right time," Stewart said. "Young pitching doesn't normally start to show itself until the age that these guys are approaching — they're not even there yet, they're just approaching. The scouting reports that we have on each and every last one of the guys we acquired are good reports. Now, it's just a matter of if they're ready to move forward."
