Derek Jeter will have to wait another year to be inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.

Air travel issues kept him from leaving New Jersey on Thursday.

The Detroit News reports that Jeter planned to take a private plane from New Jersey's Teterboro Airport on Thursday but encountered mechanical problems. Organizers say he'll be inducted next year instead.

Jeter, 40, went to high school in Kalamazoo before becoming a star for the New York Yankees.
